USSF Fall Open ATL

September 29, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm EDT

$85

The best run and most enjoyable lifting contest has returned for the fall and Atlanta Barbell is pumped to be hosting.

This is a strenthlifing meet. The contested lifts will be the squat, press (overhead), and deadlift, which differs from a powerlifting meet. While the are both strength sports in which similar movements are done, strengthlifting has rules (or a lack) that create quite a different type of competition. Some of these include; There is no bench press. Instead, you will perform the standing press. Deadlifts must to be done conventionally, with the feet inside of the hands. You do not weigh in prior to the meet, you weigh out after your final deadlift attempt. And best of all, Judges are not involved in the lift whatsoever. No one tells you when to squat, when to press, or when to do anything during the actual lift. A full set of rules can be found at:

https://internationalbarbellfederation.com/rules/

The meet will be held under the sanction of the US Strengthlifting Federation (USSF). Competitors will be ranked and can qualify for nationals. A USSF membership is required to compete.

Previous competitions have been enjoyable and efficient affairs and I am looking forward to this one running just as well. Your meet entry fee includes a lifter slot and the option to purchase a meet shirt. Overall winners of the meet will be calculated via the Wilks formula, will take home honor, pride, and a piece of memorabilia signifying your accomplishment.
